Take great leapsand land on your feet!
Life
coaching is my joy...though
cats of all sizes are pretty high up there too. [grin] That's
a photograph of me withyou guessed ita lion cub.
So
you'd like to learn more about me, eh? Let's start with education.
I earned a B.A. in anthropology from Wesleyan University and
a Ph.D. in human evolution from The Johns Hopkins University.
Along the way I was lucky enough to do research in Kenya,
South Africa, Switzerland, Belgium, and Costa Rica. I taught
and researched at the University of California (UCLA and UC
Davis) for six years before becoming a nationally certified
life coach. I learned so much about myself while in academia,
including that my ideal life involved writing fiction and
not academia! Turning down a tenure-track job offer was one
of the hardest things I've ever doneafter all, I'd trained
for it from the time I'd entered college. Yet I've never regretted
my choice.
My
transition from college professor to life coach was a natural
one. I've always enjoyed exploring life and sharing the results
with others. I coach as I taughtwith enthusiasm and
a deep love of helping people create extraordinary lives.
If you want such a life, I can help you build it.
Writing
is another passion. I've written short stories, two novels,
a dissertation, and peer-reviewed scientific papers, and I've
been a finalist in or won twelve contests with my novel manuscripts
to date. It's my pleasure to coach other writers.
I now live in
the eastern Sierra Nevada mountainsone of the world's
most beautiful areas, in my biased opinion! Moving
here was an interesting story. I'd never visited this area
and didn't know a soul within 150 miles before I decided to
move here. Does that sound crazy? Maybe. But it turned out
perfectly.
Within weeks, I'd found an apartment I love looking out on
the Sierra Nevadas, new friends, and I'd renewed a life of
skiing.
Was this just luck? I doubt it. I've never been an especially
lucky person. Instead, the universe rewarded my decision to
go on an adventure. Take courageous actions, then watch the
universe align itself with your goals.
I have two delightful, purry cats and I love animals. I support
several caring organizations that shelter and adopt homeless
pets. Two of my favorites are Best
Friends Animal Sanctuary and Safe
Haven for Cats. Please visit their websitesand if
you like, you can make online donations directly from their
home pages.
My
clients are smart, creative, and motivated. They've all
reached a point in their lives where they're ready to make
some big changes. They want to hone their creativity and design
a new life in harmony with their joys and values, and they're
determined to make it happen. Because
I coach by telephone, I have clients from around the worldfrom
the U.S. and Canada to Australia.
My
coaching style combines warmth, directness, and humor,
and clients value my intuition and deep listening. They've
called me a "bright spirit" and "a midwife of change". My
favorite moment in coaching is the "a-ha!"the shift
in perspective that helps someone leap past an obstacle and
reach their goal. I want you to experience it!
I
completed an extensive program of life coaching training and
I'm nationally certified as a life coach and as a teleclass
leader. (See the images below for more information.) I'm a
proud member of the International
Association of Coaches, and I've pledged to abide by the
IAC's extensive and client-centered "Ethical Principles
and Code of Ethics".
