Writing
is a noble calling and a source of joyas well as occasional
frustration! Are you feeling stuckor just wanting more
from your writing? Here
are a few of the many things I've helped my clients with:
- Finishing
(or starting) a book
- Learning
how to catch an editor or agent's attention
- Organizing
ideas to get them on paper
- Booting
writer's block out the door
- Growing
a career
- Transitioning
into a different genre or style
- Managing
the business aspects of being a writer
- Handling
sticky career issues
- Balancing
writing with the rest of life
- Developing
a unique writing voice
I'm
a trained and nationally certified life coachand I'm
also a writer. I understand the needs, fears, and dreams of
the creative life. I've written short stories, two novels,
a dissertation, nonfiction
articles, and scientific
papers, and I've been a finalist in or won twelve contests
with my novel manuscripts to date. It's my pleasure to coach
other authors toward their goals.
I
work with writers who want to be productive, organized, and
happily creative. About half of my writing clients are already
published or are seriously pursuing publication (with full
manuscripts or articles submitted to publishers and agents,
etc.). They tend to want help with work/life balance, brainstorming
and feedback on career issues, and assistance with handling
writer's block.
The
other half of my writing clientele have long felt the calling
to write, but never let themselves follow ituntil now.
I work for them as their cheerleader and guide while they
hone their writing "voice".
The
clients I love to work with are those who, deep down, believe
in the phrase "leap, and the net will appear" (Julia CameronThe
Artist's Way). They want to lead a deeply satisfying life
by sharing their unique talent and gifts with the world.
Because
I write fiction, I particularly enjoy coaching other fiction
writers. That being said, the type of writing is less important
than the link and partnership the writer and I create together.
In other words, I coach the author, not the writing itself!
Potential clients and I meet over the phone in a free "get
acquainted" session. During that time we discuss writing,
career issues, and other aspects of the writing life important
to them. I look for that certain "click"a person-to-person
connection that tells me we'll work well together and accomplish
the client's goals.
A
testimonial
"Katey has that uncanny knack for finding the
spark that motivates me, the ability to help me acknowledge
and overcome the obstacles I have created for myself, and
the true gift of really listening to my needs. In just a few
weeks of working together, she has already sharpened my focus
to an extraordinary degree. I highly recommend her to anyone
who wants to realize their true potential."
